My Husband--Some Hotshot!

Here are a bunch of commercials from my childhood--so drilled into the collective public consciousness from thousands of hours of watching the three channels available in the 70s, that they were parodied at the time they were being shown.

The last one may not be so famous, but I remember the weird enunciation: "Stay Alive, THE Survival Game."

  1. I remembered all of those. I'd forgotten about Stay Alive and "I'm the sole survivor."

"Ancient Chinese secret, huh?" is still said occasionally in our household.

And I hate to brag, but we had SEVEN channels (without cable) in the Metro NY area. 2 (CBS), 4 (NBC), 5 (Fox, or whatever it was called back then), 7 (ABC), 9 (WOR), 11 (WPIX) and 13 (PBS).

  2. We were strictly in the sticks! We actually had four channels, but most people didn't count PBS as "real tv". The local affiliate was actually still in black and white until about 1973!
