How to be too obscure in your cultural references

I just stumbled across a website called famousobjectsfromclassicmovies, which is a quiz where you see a drawing of an object and guess what famous (or recent) movie it comes from. 

The one object I couldn't place was this one, because I hadn't gotten around to seeing the movie (you don't see the movie title until you try to guess):

I still don't know what that spinning top thing is supposed to be....
