Errata

How could I forget to include these two movies in my 1979 year-end wrap-up????
Classic!

A must-see for 13 year-old Foulard, the pre-eminent Steve Martin scholar of his middle school.

  1. I saw The Jerk listed on that site you linked, and I had to wonder if your list was comprehensive. I, too, saw a surprisingly high number of those movies. Looking at the list, and having vague memories of seeing so many of them in the theaters, I had to wonder why I was seeing so many movies made for adults when I was 12. For instance, The China Syndrome?!? I distinctly remember having no clue what was going on in that movie most of the time, but I did love Jack Lemmon. I also remember a scene where Jane Fonda listened to her answering machine after arriving home, while taking off her earrings and things like that, and thinking I would live like that someday (my parents did not yet have an answering machine).

  2. I remember her high-tech answering machine, too! It seemed very slick and professional.

I looked at the bracketing years on the website I used for reference, and I think 1979 might have been the year I saw the most first-run mainstream movies in the theater. before that, I was too young to see as many, and after that, I was more picky, and saw more old and foreign movies.

  3. I had a feeling you would know exactly what I was talking about (with the answering machine, I mean)!
